Launching the Clean Plate Campaign；Practicing garbage sorting；Sharing our beautiful homeland
Zhang: Hello, everyone. I'm Zhang Leyi from Class 4, Senior 1.
Liu: I'm Liu Luning from Class 1, Senior 1.
Zhang: General Secretary Xi Jinping said: "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets." The construction of ecological civilization is the fundamental plan for the sustainable development of the Chinese nation. As a student representative of the School Green Campus Construction Committee, at today's morning meeting, we want to talk about the topic of ecological civilization.
Zhang: Now, the construction of ecological civilization is in a critical period of pressure superposition and load-bearing. It has entered a critical period of providing more high-quality ecological products to meet the growing needs of the people for a beautiful ecological environment, and it has also reached a window period of being able to solve prominent problems of ecological environment. What can we do as high school students?
Liu: First of all, we should be learners. Strengthen the learning of ecological environmental protection knowledge, establish the concept of ecological civilization, improve the quality of ecological civilization; Secondly, be a propagandist. In the spare time, we can go to the community or the street to publicize the knowledge of environmental protection and the concept of ecological civilization. Thirdly, be a practitioner. Consciously participate in all kinds of environmental protection activities, such as garbage sorting, low-carbon transportation, water saving, green campus construction, etc.; advocate a simple, moderate, green and low-carbon lifestyle, and oppose extravagance, waste and unreasonable consumption.
Zhang: That's right. On our campus, in fact, there are many environmental protection problems we need to pay attention to. For example, the Clean Plate Campaign, which has been launched since 2013, emphasizes making meals on demand in the canteen and at home, reminds and warns us that hunger is not far away from us, and even today, cherishing and saving food is still one of the traditional virtues to be observed. According to our observation, most of the students have been able to clear our plates in the canteen at noon, but some are still wasting food. We have learned that there are as many as four barrels of swill transported out of the student canteen every day, and the cost of swill transportation and dispose of our school is tens of thousands every year.
Liu: With the improvement of living standards, people's consciousness of thrifty has been weaker and weaker. According to the reference data, each year, consumers waste 8 million tons of protein and 3 million tons of fat in food and drink alone, and at least 200 million people's rations are dumped. The global average annual death toll from hunger is 10 million, with one child dying of hunger every six seconds. There are many people in the world who suffer from hunger when you are picky or even throw away the food.
Zhang: "Consider every single grain is the result of toil; remember every silk thread is difficult to obtain." The purpose of launching the Clean Plate Campaign is not only to save food, but also to cultivate the values of thrifty and contribute to the construction of ecological civilization. According to statistics, the daily output of garbage per capita in the city is about one kilogram. Once the data is multiplied by the total population of the city, it will be an amazing number. In addition to reducing waste, it is urgent to deal with garbage effectively. In order to promote garbage classification, many communities and schools in Nanjing are equipped with various garbage cans and posters for garbage sorting. By the end of 2020, there will be 46 cities in China to enforce garbage sorting, and Nanjing is one of them.
Liu: The implementation of garbage sorting depends on every bit of effort in everyone's life. Take the dining in the canteen as an example. After eating, students should take the initiative to put kitchen waste and paper towels into different garbage cans. In fact, this is the simplest garbage classification in our life. We encourage each class to set up a garbage bin and classify the garbage every day. Students can start from the common garbage classification on campus and cultivate a conscious and scientific consciousness of garbage classification. Waste books, test papers, drafts, etc. should be put into recyclable trash cans; waste electronic products, batteries, used pen cores should be put into hazardous trash cans; bread and snacks should be put into kitchen waste bins, and then packaging paper should be put into recyclable trash cans. Students can also take action in our family life. Leftovers should be collected in a centralized way and put into the kitchen waste bin; used napkins should be put into other waste bins; used clothes can be put into a special fabric recycling bin for recycling by professionals. Actively using the knowledge of garbage classification can improve our living environment and the whole human environment. This should be the norm in our lives. After all, promoting the construction of ecological civilization is not only the function of the government, but also the obligation and responsibility of each individual.
Zhang: Yes, ecological civilization runs through the construction of our whole society. Standing at the tuyere of the times, our country calls on us to take the comprehensive victory over the epidemic as an opportunity to promote ecological civilization to a new level. As a modern man with the Chinese soul and world mind, we should start from ourselves and take on the obligation and responsibility to make China have bluer sky, greener mountains, clearer waters and more beautiful environment.
This is the end of the morning meeting. Thank you!
